A Pre-Calving Supplement That Lifts Herd Nutrition
By Marina Holt · September 19, 2023

The transition into calving is the most demanding stretch of a dairy cow's year. Energy needs climb sharply while appetite often dips, and the gap between the two can quietly drain a cow's reserves just when she needs them most.
On our farm we close that gap with a carefully balanced pre-calving supplement built around magnesium, selenium and a slow-release energy source. Introduced a few weeks before the due date, it steadies metabolism and lowers the risk of milk fever once the calf arrives.
The difference shows up in the herd long after calving. Cows hold condition better, milk lets down more freely, and calves are born with the vigour that comes from a well-nourished mother. Good nutrition before birth is never wasted.
